It is no great surprise that the world’s leading online casino software provider, Microgaming’s, new Isle of Man HQ has been named in ‘The 10 coolest offices of 2017’ in the UK, alongside some of the biggest consumer brands.
As the pre-eminent creator of online casino games worldwide, Microgaming is at the very top of the tree in the latest developments of cutting edge online casino technology. One only has to look at some of the superb recently released online slot titles like Halloween, Monster Wheels, Moby Dick, The Phantom of the Opera and the upcoming Highlander slot to see that Microgaming is continually updating its software to deliver a stunningly superior product. The graphics of the Microgaming online casino games themselves are intensely good and offer a smooth and elegant playability unlike any other online casino software provider.
If coolness is a necessary component as part of a creative environmental muse for software developers, then the new Microgaming office has it in spades.
Microgaming – One of ‘The 10 Coolest Offices in the UK’ – No small feat
Jobs site Adzuna has compiled a list of the 10 coolest offices, with only employers that opened their doors to new recruits this calendar year included.
If you wake up every morning dreading the thought of going to work, even if it’s the thought of spending 8 hours a day doing your job, or it may be the actual office itself you dread rather than the work, it seems as though Microgaming employees will never share the dreaded feeling with you. Their brand new office ‘Sixty Two’ has just been listed in Adzuna’s Top 10 coolest offices in the United Kingdom for 2017.
It is an award that the software giant is particularly proud of. It shows the emphasis that Microgaming places on creating an enjoyable, friendly, and comfortable working environment, making sure their employees are content, happy and satisfied.
Precisely how hard it is to make it onto the list is evident from the fact that amongst other included companies that are giants like Amazon, Deliveroo (a huge food delivery company), Talk Talk and health and beauty chain Superdrug.
Best possible environment for Microgaming’s Employees
Opening its doors in July 2017, the five-story office building features a unique sky bridge that links the new to the existing offices, creating a ‘campus of learning’ for the company and its workers.
The new building boasts outstanding unique and creative design features around every corner, down to the smallest details.
To provide the best possible environment for employees, there are hot desks, standing desks, work booths and break-out areas on each floor. Staff are encouraged and entitled to take time out away from their desks, enticed by the fourth-floor communal area featuring a table tennis table, pool table, poker table, dart board and a library.
There is a fully equipped in-house gym and treatment room, and for staff to re-energise there is a canteen and coffee shop with an exclusive Microgaming coffee blend. The rooftop garden offers stunning panoramic views of the island, which can also be enjoyed via a periscope in the reception area.
The entire Microgaming office has been designed to be as environmentally friendly as possible and has achieved a BREEAM (the world’s leading sustainability assessment method for master planning projects, infrastructure and buildings) rating of ‘excellent’. Key features have been built in to ensure efficient energy and waste management, including smart lighting that automatically dims to reduce electrical consumption, air quality and temperature monitoring, as well as centralised recycling facilities on each floor of the building.
Microgaming engaged their entire staff throughout the design process, empowering them in the initial planning phases and asking for eco-warriors to take charge in ensuring the office was designed as environmentally friendly as possible.
What the Microgaming Bosses Think
“We have been enjoying the new building and its facilities for a little over three months now and feedback from staff has been incredibly positive,” Roger Raatgever, CEO of Microgaming, said.
Rattgever continued; “Our presence on the Isle of Man continues to grow with over 120 staff at Sixty Two and nine vacancies currently listed on our website.”
John Coleman, CFO of Microgaming adds; “To feature in the list of ‘The 10 coolest offices of 2017’, standing alongside some of the biggest consumer brands in the UK, is a fantastic achievement. A lot of time and effort went into designing and creating a building that was not only fit-for-purpose from a business perspective, but allows employees to thrive and feel empowered. I am very proud of what we have created.”
Staff Engagement = Higher Quality Casino Games for the Player
For Microgaming, it seems to be all about ensuring staff remain engaged. It is something they are prepared to take very seriously and invest millions in a workplace of which their employees can be happy, productive and connected.
The feeling of connectedness maintains a level of communication that is something that they work hard at to make sure their employees feel interested and motivated. They are aware of the challenges and goals of the organisation in order to actively contribute to building better games.
That said, even as a user of Microgaming’s great games, its evident that their staff are always looking to improve every aspect of what they do and foster innovation, and embrace different opinions. They just don’t seem to stand still – it just doesn’t seem to be the Microgaming way.
“One cup of Microgaming’s special java blend please, throw in a new visually graphic and interactive movie tie-in online slot and I’ll have a game of table tennis and a neck massage to go with that. Thank you very much.”
